Applied Mechanics Department undertakes academic work of some of the subjects of Civil, Mechanical, Automobile and Metallurgical Engineering.  Department has vastly experienced faculties and supporting staff.  Department has fully equipped laboratories for Applied Mechanics, Strength of Material, Soil Engineering and Concrete Technology.

Applied Mechanics laboratory is equipped with Screw Jack, Wheel and axial, force polygon apparatus, etc. Strength of Material laboratory is equipped with Compression Testing Machine, Universal Tensile Testing Machine, Izod and Charpy Impact Testing Machine, Hardness Testing Machine, etc. Soil engineering laboratory is equipped with necessary equipments required for testing of soil such as Liquid limit apparatus, Hot air oven, varies sieves, Permeability apparatus, Shear test apparatus. Concrete laboratory is equipped with Compression Testing Machine, Vibrating table, Slump test apparatus, Flakiness and elongation index test apparatus, etc.

Department also regularly organize subject related Industrial visit for students of Civil Engineering and also organized Expert lectures.

Engineering Mechanics is the branch of science that considers the motion of bodies and the effect of forces on that motion. Applied mechanics describes the behavior of a body, in either a beginning state of rest or of motion, subjected to the action of forces. All the equipment for the practical like Law of forces, Beam reaction, Centroid of lamina, Friction and Simple Machines are available in the laboratory.

Material properties must be known for the effective use of material. To determine the properties of materials under different conditions testing is required. In material testing lab all the equipment for testing of different materials are available like Universal Testing Machine for tension as well as compression testing, Impact machine for impact test, Fly wheel for Moment of Inertia, Brinell Hardness testing machine for testing hardness of material, Deflection of Beam etc.

Soil is important part of any structure as the load of any structure will transfer in the soil at the end. For the stability and execution of structures we need to understand various properties of Soil with the help of different soil experiments. In the laboratory of soil mechanics we have all the equipment for testing of soil like Sieves for sieve analysis, Automatics sieve shaker, Casagrande Apparatus, Core cutter, permeability equipment, Constant head and falling head equipment, sand replacement apparatus, Oven, Direct shear test equipment, Automatic soil compaction equipment etc.

Concrete is the main material of any reinforced cement concrete structures. As a concrete is important structural element, Properties of concrete must fulfill design requirements. For the testing of different parameters of concrete we have equipments in our concrete technology laboratory like Vicat apparatus, Flakiness and Elongation test apparatus, Los Angeles Abrasion Testing machine, Concrete Mixture Machine, Automatic Compression Testing Machine, Vibrating Table etc.
