ABOUT DEPARTMENT:

Textile Manufacturing Technology Department established in 1969, is one of the esteemed department of Dr. S. & S. S. Ghandhy College of Engineering And Technology, Surat. Institute is running under Department of Technical Education, Government of Gujarat. Diploma in Textile Manufacturing Technology program is approved by All India council for technical education (AICTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to Gujarat Technological university, Ahmedabad.

Textile Manufacturing Technology is a branch of engineering which deals with designing and manufacturing of Apparel Garments and Functional Fabrics. Surat, an emerging city in the state of Gujarat, is known as the textile city of Gujarat. And, the epithet is perfectly suited to the city. The textile industry is one of the oldest and the most widespread industries in Surat. A major part of the city's population is associated with the textile industry. Day by Day Textile Industries Upgraded Technically & therefore to full fill the requirement of technical People are essential. The department has qualified faculty members engaged in teaching learning process with the aim of achieving excellence in the field of Textile engineering.

 COURSE DURATION

Duration of Course is 03 years and 06 months, Seven semesters (including one full term industrial training in 7th semester). Students are undergo Industrial Training in various Textile Industries during 7th SEM as a part of curriculum.

ENTRY LEVEL

  1. 10th Standard Pass (1st Sem. Entry) 
  2. Certificate course of duration 2 years from TEB /NCVT/GCVT/IGTR (3rd Sem. Entry)

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs):

  1. Analyse different processes of textile manufacturing industry.
  2. Acquire expertise to manage the machine and workers shiftwise in different private and public sectors who involves with the manufacturing of fibres, yarns, fabrics and garments.
  3. Solve real world problems in a safe, professional and ethical manner in order to achieve sustainable growth of industry and society.

  1. PSO1:- Expand technical advancement of textiles in various field for different Purposes.
  2. PSO2:- Support sustainable and ecological development of manufacturing of textiles

 PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs)

  1. Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems.
  2. Problem analysis: Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.
  3. Design/ development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical Problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.
  4. Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing: Apply modern engineering tools And appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.
  5. Engineering practices for society, sustainability and environment: Apply Appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.
  6. Project Management: Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.
  7. Life-long learning: Ability to analyse individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes.

TRAINING and PLACEMENTS OPPORTUNITIES:

Every year students of 7th semester are placed for full term (14 weeks) industrial training as a part of their curriculum in various textile industries of Gujarat region. Each year textile passout students are appointed as processing supervisor in different department by various textile industries. Diploma Processing Graduates are also eligible to apply for DRDO. Approximately 15% of diploma textile graduates are applied for admission in degree engineering program. List of industries/companies hired our graduates in past few years are as mention below.
