About Department:

Surat is a City of Textiles and famous for Synthetic Sarees & Dress Materials. Approximately 450 Textile Processing units are working in Surat. Day by Day Modernization is coming in Textile Industries & therefore to full fill the requirement of technical People are essential. In Dr. S & S.S. Ghandhy College, Textile processing course is running from 1969 by the reorganization of western region committee of technical education and it provides technocrats for Textile Industries. Textile Processing Course is having seven semesters in which six semesters having class room study & practical work and last one semester is Industrial Training.

Training & Placements Opportunities

Every year students of 7th semester are placed for full term (14 weeks) industrial training as a part of their curriculum in various textile industries of Gujarat region.

Each year textile passout students are appointed as processing supervisor in different department by various textile industries. Diploma Processing Graduates are also eligible to apply for DRDO. Approximately 25% of diploma textile graduates are applied for admission in degree engineering program. Diploma graduates can be work as a professional to different textile disciplinaries such as  textile processing houses, research & development laboratories, marketing executive for chemical industries, dyeing & pigment industries and merchandiser for textile & apparel export houses. Co - Curricular and Extracurricular Activities 

Series of Co-curricular and extracurricular activities like Group Discussions, Expert lectures, Industrial visits, Tree plantation, Cleanliness drive, Yoga celebrations, Sports week, NCC and NSS activities are planned and organised in department & institute for a harmonious development of students in respect to their morality, humanity, honesty, character and health. These activities also contribute to the development of soft skills or employable skills to great extent, which are ultimately required at the world of work.

Labs


In this Lab Strength of Color & Chemicals can be measure & compare through Computer Color Matching System. The strength of Scoured Sample, Bleached Sample, Dyed Sample, Printed Sample & OBA treated Sample can be checked. The strength of Color Solution can also be checked.

- Testing of Chemicals and fabric can be checked

- Fastness properties of treated sample can be measured

- The strength of Chemicals can be measure.

Scouring, Bleaching and Optical whitening of fabric can be done in this lab. 

Dyeing of fabrics with single or multi color and Printing of Fabric with single or multi color can be done.

Dyeing  & Printing of Blend fabric also done in this lab.
